About the Meeting

The APS April Meeting 2023 "Quarks to Cosmos" brings together scientists in astrophysics, particle physics, nuclear physics, and gravitation to share research and discuss important issues in their fields. The 2023 theme is "Bringing into focus the aspects of physics at different scales".

  • ATTENDEE LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK: COVID-19

    Relating to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Attendee acknowledges the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assumes the risk of exposure or infection by attending the American Physical Society (APS) Annual Meeting, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, disability, and/or death to Attendee. Attendee understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the APS April Meeting may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of others who may attend the event or their families, colleagues, or others with whom they may have contact. Accordingly, Attendee understands and agrees that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the APS and their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, officials, employees, agents, volunteers, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in the APS April Meeting. In addition to all other rules and regulations relating to Attendee’s attendance at the APS April Meeting, In-Person attendees agree to comply with all COVID-related procedures that may be implemented by APS and the City of Minneapolis, including, but not limited to, mask-wearing and social distancing requirements and restrictions on certain activities that carry higher COVID-related risk, to protect, as much as possible, the health and safety of all April Meeting attendees.


    APS Recommends:


    1. Being up-to-date according to CDC Guidelines* against COVID-19 prior to attending the meeting with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (ie., Pfizer/BioNTech, Johnson and Johnson/Janssen, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Oxford, Covishield, Covaxin, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Covovax, or Nuvaxovid) CDC Vaccination Guidance; and,


    2. Receiving a self-monitored or pharmacy supervised negative COVID-19 test within 24 hours prior to entering the meeting facility or a PCR negative COVID-19 test within 3 days prior to entering the meeting facility. Attendee acknowledges and represents that Attendee's in-person participation in the APS April Meeting Meeting is voluntary.


    Attendee assumes all risks and accepts sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that Attendee may experience or incur in connection with attending the APS April Meeting.


    ON BEHALF OF THE ATTENDEE AND ATTENDEES’ CHILDREN, SPOUSE, LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES, AND HEIRS AND ASSIGNS, THE ATTENDEE HEREBY RELEASES, COVENANTS NOT TO SUE, DISCHARGES, AND HOLDS HARMLESS THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY (APS) AND THEIR PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, OFFICIALS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND REPRESENTATIVES, OF AND FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, INCLUDING ALL LIABILITIES, CLAIMS, ACTIONS, DAMAGES, COSTS, OR EXPENSES OF ANY KIND, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO ATTENDEE’S PARTICIPATION IN THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY APRIL MEETING.
