Code of Conduct for APS Meetings

Creating a supportive environment to enable scientific discourse at APS and APS Partner meetings is the responsibility of all participants.


By registering for an APS event, you are agreeing to abide by the APS Code of Conduct.

The 65th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics (DPP) will be held in Denver, Colorado and online from October 30 to November 3, 2023. All technical sessions will be held in the DPP headquarters hotel, Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, located at 1550 Court Place, Denver, Colorado 80202 and streamed to a virtual platform. In-person poster sessions will be displayed with a virtual option. There will be six mini-conferences.

Cancellation Policy

All registration cancellations and refund requests must be made in writing by October 26, 2023. A refund of the full conference fee, minus a $50 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received by October 26, 2023. No refunds will be granted for requests submitted on or after October 27, 2023. Submit all requests to the APS registrar at registrar@aps.org and abs-help@aps.org if you are speaking or presenting. APS regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows.

  • ATTENDEE LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK: COVID-19

    Relating to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Attendee acknowledges the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assumes the risk of exposure or infection by attending the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Plasma Physics Annual Meeting, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, disability, and/or death to Attendee. Attendee understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the APS DPP Annual Meeting may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of others who may attend the event or their families, colleagues, or others with whom they may have contact. Accordingly, Attendee understands and agrees that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the APS and their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, officials, employees, agents, volunteers, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in the APS DPP Annual Meeting. In addition to all other rules and regulations relating to Attendee’s attendance at the APS DPP Annual Meeting, In-Person attendees agree to comply with all COVID-related procedures that may be implemented by APS and the Spokane Convention Center, including, but not limited to, mask-wearing and social distancing requirements and restrictions on certain activities that carry higher COVID-related risk, to protect, as much as possible, the health and safety of all DPP attendees.


    APS Recommends:


    1. Being Up To Date according to CDC Guidelines* against COVID-19 prior to attending the meeting with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (ie., Pfizer/BioNTech, Johnson and Johnson/Janssen, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Oxford, Covishield, Covaxin, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Covovax, or Nuvaxovid) CDC Vaccination Guidance; and,


    2. Receiving a self-monitored or pharmacy supervised negative COVID-19 test within 24 hours prior to entering the meeting facility or a PCR negative COVID-19 test within 3 days prior to entering the meeting facility. Attendee acknowledges and represents that Attendee's in-person participation in the APS DPP Annual Meeting is voluntary.


    Attendee assumes all risks and accepts sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that Attendee may experience or incur in connection with attending the APS DPP Annual Meeting.


    ON BEHALF OF ATTENDEE AND ATTENDEES’ CHILDREN, SPOUSE, LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES, AND HEIRS AND ASSIGNS, ATTENDEE HEREBY RELEASES, COVENANTS NOT TO SUE, DISCHARGES, AND HOLDS HARMLESS THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY (APS) AND THEIR PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, OFFICIALS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND REPRESENTATIVES, OF AND FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, INCLUDING ALL LIABILITIES, CLAIMS, ACTIONS, DAMAGES, COSTS, OR EXPENSES OF ANY KIND, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO ATTENDEE’S PARTICIPATION IN THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY DIVISION OF PLASMA PHYSICS ANNUAL MEETING.


    Attendee understands and agrees that the law of the State of Maryland will govern this Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk. By completing this registration, all In-Person Attendees acknowledge that they have carefully read and fully understand this Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk and knowingly assume the risks described above and waives In-Person Attendee’s rights concerning liability as described above. APS is continuously monitoring current transmission rates and CDC guidance and may modify its practices ahead of this meeting.
