Creating a supportive environment to enable scientific discourse at APS and APS Partner meetings is the responsibility of all participants.


By registering for an APS event, you are agreeing to abide by APS Code of Conduct.

We are excited to announce the 22nd Biennial Conference of the APS Topical Group on Shock Compression of Condensed Matter will be held in Anaheim, CA on July 10-15, 2022 at the Anaheim Marriott. The conference hotel is just one mile from the Disneyland Resort attractions. The conference will be a great time to reconnect with your SCCM colleagues. Bring your family and celebrate getting together after a tough few years!

Anaheim is located in Orange County, California close to Los Angeles. It’s home to Disneyland and the Anaheim Ducks ice hockey club and the Los Angeles Angels baseball team. The hotel is close to multiple golf courses and about 20 miles from the beach.

  • ATTENDEE LIABILITY WAIVER, RELEASE, AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK: COVID 19


    Relating to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Attendee acknowledges the highly contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assumes the risk of exposure or infection by attending the American Physical Society GSCCM Meeting, and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, disability, and/or death to Attendee. Attendee understands that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the APS GSCCM Meeting may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of others who may attend the event or their families, colleagues, or others with whom they may have contact. Accordingly, Attendee understands and agrees that this release includes any claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the American Physical Society and their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, officials, employees, agents, volunteers, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in the APS GSCCM Meeting.

    In addition to all other rules and regulations relating to Attendee’s attendance at the APS GSCCM Meeting, In-Person attendees agree to:


    1. Being Up To Date according to CDC Guidelines* against COVID-19 prior to attending the meeting with a vaccine approved by the World Health Organization (ie., Pfizer/BioNTech, Johnson and Johnson/Janssen, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Oxford, Covishield, Covaxin, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Covovax, or Nuvaxovid); and, 

    2. Submit the results of a negative PCR COVID test taken within 3 days prior to your arrival at the hotel. For those having difficulty getting a PCR COVID test, we will also accept the results of a negative Antigen Rapid test taken within 24 hours prior to arriving at the hotel. These results must be entered by attendees into VaccineCheck before admission to the meeting facilities.

    3. Attestation to their vaccination status prior to the meeting by uploading vaccination card or information through our vendor, VaccineCheck.

    4. Agree to comply with all COVID-related procedures that may be implemented by APS and the Anaheim Marriott, including, but not limited to, mask-wearing and social distancing requirements and restrictions on certain activities that carry higher COVID-related risk, to protect, as much as possible, the health and safety of all GSCCM attendees.


    *People are considered up to date two weeks after their second shot of the Pfizer-BioNtech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/Oxford, Covishield, Covaxin, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Covovax or Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine, or two weeks after the single-dose J&J/Janssen COVID-19 vaccine and, if eligible, have received their booster shot.


    Attendee acknowledges and represents that Attendee’s in-person participation in the American Physical Society GSCCM Meeting is voluntary.


    Attendee assumes all risks and accepts sole responsibility for any injury (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that Attendee may experience or incur in connection with attending the American Physical Society GSCCM Meeting.


    ON BEHALF OF ATTENDEE AND ATTENDEES’ CHILDREN, SPOUSE, LEGAL REPRESENTATIVES, AND HEIRS AND ASSIGNS, ATTENDEE HEREBY RELEASES, COVENANTS NOT TO SUE, DISCHARGES, AND HOLDS HARMLESS THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY (APS) AND THEIR PARENTS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, OFFICIALS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, VOLUNTEERS, AND REPRESENTATIVES, OF AND FROM ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, INCLUDING ALL LIABILITIES, CLAIMS, ACTIONS, DAMAGES, COSTS, OR EXPENSES OF ANY KIND, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO ATTENDEE’S PARTICIPATION IN THE AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY GSCCM MEETING.


    Attendee understands and agrees that the law of the State of Maryland will govern this Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk.


    By completing this registration, all In-Person Attendees acknowledge that they have carefully read and fully understand this Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk and knowingly assume the risks described above and waives In-Person Attendee’s rights concerning liability as described above.
